The Fourth China-South Asia Cultural Forum Successfully Held in SZU

The Fourth China-South Asia Cultural Forum cosponsored by Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Shenzhen Unviersity(SZU) was successfully held in Shenzhen Unviersity on Nov. 15-16, 2012. Over 60 delegates from India, Singapore, US and Mainland China attended this international forum.

Prof. Li Fengliang, Vice-president of SZU, Mr. Ma Xiaoming, Director of CPAFFC, Mr. I. M. Pandey, Consul General of the Consulate General of India, Guangzhou, Prof. Tan Chung, the internatioanl famous schalor, Prof. Shen Kaiyan, Deputy Director of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences delivered speeches on the Opening Ceremony of the Forum.

Themes including “China-South Asian Economic Cooperation and Cultural Development”, “ China-South Asian Educational Cooperation Today and in the Future”, “China-South Asian Media Cooperation Studies”, “China-South Asian Cooperation on the Translation of Classic Works” and “China-South Asian Think Tank Cooperation” were broadly discussed during the Forum. Some new and delightful conceptions, inspirations and academic achievements emerged during the Forum.

Apart from the disscusion among scholars at home and abroad, three public lectures were given to facullties and students of SZU. There were The Current Indian Economic and Social Situation and the Comparison between Chinese and Indian Economic Developmental Patterns given by Prof. Shen Kaiyan and co-sponsored by China Centre for Special Economic Zone Research and Centre for Indian Studies of SZU, Comparative Oriental Literature Studies given by Prof. Meng Zhaoyi and co-sponsored by College of Arts and Centre for Indian Studies of SZU, and India-China Relations Today jointly given by Prof. T.C.A.Rangachari, Prof. Vinod Khanna and Prof. Tan Chung and co-sponsored by School of Foreign Languages and Centre for Indian Studies of SZU.

A breif summary of the Forum  by Prof. Yu Longyu, Director of the Centre for Indian Studies of SZU and an inauguration of the series of activities, including a essay contest of “ Rabindranath Tagore in My Heart”, for Centenary Celebration of the Award of Nobel Prize to Rabindranath Tagore rounded off the Forum in the afternoon of Nov. 16, 2012.
